Verse & Vow
The photographer
Romance is a discipline
Verse & Vow is the studio of Lior Amsel — one photographer, four film cameras, a river town.
Behind the vow
I came to weddings from poetry, which is to say: late, and on purpose. Ten years on, I still shoot the way I write — waiting for the line that earns its place. My couples tend to be the kind who keep letters. If that's you, we'll get along.
The unphotographed hour is not lost; it simply belongs to the two of you. I only ask for the ones you'd want read aloud.
From the studio's first letter to every couple
Film, and why it matters
Grain holds warmth the way paper holds handwriting. Every wedding is shot on medium-format film, scanned by one lab in New England, and printed before it is ever posted. The negatives are archived — your grandchildren can reprint them.
